The unveiling took place following “Parlament en moviment,” the traditional sports event organized by the Parliamentary Group for Sports and the Graubünden Sports Association. Together with representatives from politics, sports, and civil society, this marked the launch of the 1,000-day countdown campaign.
A visible symbol of the World Games
The new information tower in Chur is the first of a total of four locations in the host cities of Chur, Arosa, and Lenzerheide, as well as in Zurich, the venue for the opening ceremony of the 2029 World Games. The information towers raise awareness of the Games in public spaces and serve as a reminder of the journey leading up to March 2029, when Switzerland will welcome athletes from over 100 nations.
The remaining information towers will be installed at their respective locations in the coming weeks. All installations are expected to be operational by the end of summer.
Sport Brings
People Together The morning of June 16, 2026, was already all about community and participation. As part of “Parlament en moviment,” the traditional sports event organized by the Parliamentary Group for Sports and the Graubünden Sports Association, members of the Grand Council met with athletes with cognitive disabilities. They played Floorball together in mixed teams. The focus was not on results or rankings, but on shared participation and the joy of movement. The event highlighted how sports bring people together and foster encounters on equal footing—values that will also shape the Special Olympics World Games Switzerland 2029.
